Liz and Simon Jakins Serenity Valley ‘AS IS’ Tour
290 Stockyard Creek Rd, Stockyard
Sunday 25th of August 2019
The story behind this visit
Tour – ‘As Is’ Liz and Simon Jakins Home – Serenity Valley – Practising Permaculture.
The people – Both Liz and Simon did their PDC’s with Geoff Lawton in 2010 – Liz then Simon – 2 weeks that changed the way Liz looked at everything – and answered so many questions – and it has been her passion ever since. Liz was the founding president of PLV.
Favourite parts – plants and trees, alternative building products, trying to create abundance for all life, all the make it yourself skills and treading more lightly – oh and chooks!
The Property – 50 acres – seasonal creek, creek flats to steep hillsides.
The tour – mostly the garden area with discussions on future plans for earth bag building, natural pool, takoma-crete (like hemp crete), rocket stoves etc. Not a lot has been done over the past year due to lack of water and time, but we will see lots of potential and tough plants for our area.
We will be covering a bit of distance, so please wear sensible shoes. I’ll have some plants for sale – lots of dragon fruit and succulents. Please come along – Time to get more permie people and stuff back in my life
Water bottle, closed shoes, hat and sunscreen.
Light afternoon tea will be provided.
Members – Free
First-Time Visitors to a PLV Event – Free
Non-Members – $10
If you join up at this visit or any time between now and the end of the year the pro rata rates for part year member will apply.
